Workshops and Education

I am a qualified adult and family learning, further education tutor and internal verifier with more than fifteen years of teaching experience devising, delivering and assessing Art, IT, Personal Development and family learning courses.
I have delivered lectures on creature design and manufacture from 'script to screen' and delivered sculpting demonstrations at festivals, conventions and special events across the UK.
I run short courses and one-day workshops aimed at giving parents and children the opportunity to work together and develop a basic understanding of, and level of skill, in mask sculpting, moulding and casting.
The one day (3 hour) workshop covers character design and basic sculpting technique. Those attending produce a maquette of their own character/creature design in air drying clay.
The 10 - week mask sculpting course gives learners the opportunity to produce their own latex mask, developing sculpting, moulding and casting skills using wet clay, plaster moulding and dwell cast latex casting. To finish, the cast latex masks are finished and painted using a range of techniques.
These courses and workshops can be delivered in a range of venues such as schools, libraries and community centres.
If you would like more information or would like to book me to deliver one of these family learning activities please contact me here.

Events and Demonstrations
A large part of my professional practice is skill sharing and in addition to set workshops or courses, appearances at special events, conventions and maker faires are another way of engaging people with my work.

I have delivered lectures on creature design and creation and conducted sculpting demos at venues across the UK including the National Space Centre Leicester, Spaceport Merseyside, Cambridge University Science Faire, numerous Sci Fi conventions and at a number of regional libraries.

These activities are always well received by visitors to these events and I am always keen to hear from organisations/venues who would be interested in me attending their own events to provide this type of learning experience.
